Lamps in the Wasteland
I looked up to see my friend, Apalla, hurrying toward me with a face full of tears. My heart lifted for a moment—I was glad to see her, but I was also worried to see her looking that way. The lamp she carried bobbed up and down as she ran, and the flame inside was flickering.
Quickly, I took my own lamp from its resting place in front of me and turned up the flame.
"Apalla, what's wrong?" I asked as she came to my side, bawling. Her lamp was flickering wildly now, and I brought mine closer to help keep her warm. "Here, share my heat. Now, can you tell me what's wrong?"
She gazed up at me for a moment, blue eyes still full of tears. "I-It's Thateos…" she said, "W-We were talking… And I told him I wanted to spend more time with my other friends. He…He started to get angry, and the flames started to burst out of his lamp… It…It was…really scary…" She scooted herself closer to my fire and continued crying.
"I see…" I told her finally. "I know how you must feel… I know how he must
Morning in the Trees"Ellie, wake up! We wanna go play outside! Wanna come with us?"
"Ngh?" Groaning, I pulled blankets and matted hair off my face to look through blurry eyes at my brother, Ben, grinning ear to ear. "Ain't it kinda early? I wanna sleeeeep…" I grumbled.
"Nah, it's only nine-thirty! C'mon, or me and Matt are leaving without you!" Ben got a playful glint in his blue eyes as he departed my room in a mad rush.
Still groaning, I reluctantly put on my glasses and rose from bed, stepped over Barbie dolls and doodles, and tried to locate appropriate attire for playing outdoors. But, being six and girly, I chose a favorite dress.
Without bothering to brush my hair or do any other crimping, I walked barefoot out into the kitchen and took my sweet time with eating cereal. By that time Matt and Ben were getting anxious. "Ellie, you're so sloooow! C'moooon!"
Putting on my shoes bitterly, I followed my brothers out the front door. "So what did you guys wanna do today??" I asked with a bit more enthusias
Aki Ameko"I value human life. Or rather…human existence. No matter how inhuman you seem, my heart has still known you and my mind still remembers you. So…I want to protect your existence…with my life."
Aki Ameko is a half elf, half human witch of the clan Hoshi Uranai. Although she appears to be and is emotionally eighteen, she is really much older than that in intelligence and living years due to her elven heritage.
Aki stands a short 5'0" tall, and weighs a light 109 lbs, with a small frame and little curve to her body.
Dark auburn curls fall from her head and curve about her features and frames her heart-shaped face. The most noticeable part of her face is her large almond-shaped honey brown eyes, and the pointed elven ears protruding from beneath her hair.
This witch wears the traditional robes of her clan; a long white dress embroidered with a pink design representing a dragon. Her collar is high and Chinese style, the upper portion of her sleeves are poofy while the bottom portion represe
Planet VirgoEnter the grace and beauty that is planet Virgo. Capital planet of the Spica system, this planet is seen as a glowing light blue pearl from afar that many praise above others.
Virgo's capital city, Athena, rests on the shores of the vast lake Zircon, and is a popular and valuable port planet-wide. The city is filled with thousands of buildings, all made of the same zircon-based light blue marble. Among the massed, blue city one can make out autumn trees dotted here and there between the buildings. At Athena's concert hall and at the royal palace are many figures of architecture, mostly of winged angels.
Visible beyond the lake are the Hestia mountains, towering beacons to the sky. From the mountains one can hear the enchanted music of what is said to be the spirits of the planet's most gifted deceased musicians. The music is enchanted such that it changes according to the mood of the listener.
From the mountains to the lake falls towering waterfalls, so many that from the depths of the
Cat HouseWhat was once a tidy living room is now taken over by cats. One white and fluffy cat has a lampshade on her head, and there are two other cats that appear to be playing Chinese checkers behind her. Underneath the table and to the side of the table are some cats sniffing around. Another feline pokes his head in a basket of knitting. The yarn is strewn all over the place, including on one lazy cat that seems to be enjoying it, and on another cat that is just lounging on top of the couch. Two of the cats find a couch-side lamp to be curious, because one is sniffing it and the other is pawing at it. Against the back wall is a cat licking the inside of a knocked-over fish bowl, and there are three more exploring the shelves above him. Those cats sure are in trouble, but they're so very cute that I could never punish them.
