My Princess Tutu boxset finally arrived, and I've been doing a slew of fanart!
This has to be one of my favorites though.
I totally LOVE Rue. (Not so much Kraehe...) She's so sad and trapped in a fate that she didn't choose. But I still love how CREEPY and EVIL she can get as Kraehe.
So I kind of did a blend between the Rue and Kraehe personas... Felt like doing a story-ish drawing with ink, and afterwards I realized it really looks like the style of the opening sequences. ("Once Upon a Time... etc. etc.")
It was kind of difficult to balance out the lights and darks. :/ In the end a lot of the detail I would have liked to keep was lost, but it's ok. I also experimented with flecking...which I've only done a few times before for stars in a landscape piece. I've seen CLAMP do a lot of flecking in their work just because, so I thought it would add a nice touch to the piece. ^_^ I just hope I didn't cover up too much. D: My next flecking attempt will be better, I'm sure.
I'm also reminded of a fairytale book I have where all the illustrations are done in ink cross-hatching... It's really, really cool. I'd really love to do book covers and illustrations as a career. It'd be so fun!
I'm probably going to do more pieces like this for Tutu...
